Final NZ Post
April 21st, 2007 at 11:21 am by mikefor now, anyway. Just some final tallies that I’ve been meaning to post for a while.
Things we rode on/in:
8 airplanes
8 sea-going vessels (3 ferries, 3 passenger/tour boats, 2 yachts, 1 glass bottom boat, 1 sea kayak)
8 shuttle busses
5 rental cars
3 vans
1 taxi
1 subway train
1 tour bus
Things we consumed:
a metric ton of porridge
another metric ton of pasta
about a half metric ton of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches
about a half dozen cases of Tui (beer, not bird: http://www.tui.co.nz/index.asp )
many, many bottles of delicious NZ wine
roughly two dozens packages of Tim Tams
about three packages of ginger biscuits
two tall blacks (coffee what hurt Sarah’s tummy)
many cappucinos (not as hurty)
lots of tea
dozens of kiwifruits
the most delicious mead ever
a couple of very weird takeaway “burgers” (with tomato sauce, not ketchup, that cost extra)
two very yummy little lambs
butter chicken and other delicious curries
risotto (made with white wine, so good!)
Distance we drove:
NZ part 1: 6,294 km (3,910.9 mi)
AU: 1,607 km (998.5 mi)
NZ part 2: 702 km (432.2 mi)
total overseas driving: 8,603 km (5,345.7 mi)
Time spent together:
75 Days
1,778 hours
106,680 minutes
6,400,800 seconds
And we didn’t even kill each other once.

That is a great post. God i miss you guys in NZ. It was so great knowing you were ‘doing it’. Uhm, not “DOING IT” – but by ‘doing it’ i mean living the dream. I was in Belize for only 2 weeks and Peter and i still say to each other “I really wish we were in Belize right now”. I can’t imagine how hard it is for you guys after 75 days.

I know what you mean, though. It’s hard sometimes being in the normal routine after doing something like that. I think we’ve only recently really gotten our heads fully back into being here.

I’m not sure if any of us will truly be in the game mentally. We just do what we do until we don’t have to anymore.
I am seriously thinking that i will retire in Belize. My money will go further, people are incredibly nice and the weather kicks butt.
