Oops!!!

February 2nd, 2008 at 4:23 pm by mike

Yeah, today I peed on the cat.
It’s not as bad as it sounds, but whoops! Loki was in the shower, because he likes to hang out there and watch, chase and sometimes drink the water drops. I was peeing (into the toilet, thank you) and thought that he was sufficiently distracted by the water in the shower. I was wrong. Too late, I noticed his head stick between my legs to see what was going on. And I clipped his ear. It was just the corner of his ear, and I got him cleaned off, but still…I peed on my cat.

Fuck You, Sears!!!

Email hatemail

December 12th, 2007 at 3:55 pm by sarah

So, I’ve had my gmail account for years, but have just recently been getting all kinds of weird emails not meant for me. They’re sent to my address, but they’re not for me. I usually send a quick note letting the person know, and they usually send back apologizing. For example, I write:

You have the wrong email address, as I have no involvement with whatever your email is addressing. Please check this. I have been receiving a great deal of wrong email and would appreciate everyone removing me from their address books.
Thank you.

They usually write:

I’m so sorry! everyone on my team except sarah has a gmail address, and I just typed in the wrong email for her – very sorry.

Not this last time…

Things Overheard 2

November 20th, 2007 at 10:49 pm by mike

We have a dramatic play area at work that is currently decorated to look like a castle. The other day, while the kindergarteners were playing there, one of them said he was going to be the king. Now, I’m pretty sure I misheard the next kid, but it sounded like he said he was going to be a serf. I had no idea 5 year olds understood feudal class structure. Amazing.

Then he started singing “Life is a Highway.”

Things overheard

Kindergarteners say some excellent things.

Outside on the playgound:
Andrew: “I’m going to be the Incredible Hulk!”
Joey: “I’m going to be the regular Hulk!”

At lunch:
Davin: “I’m in class with Luke.” Points at Luke, “That kind of Luke.”

“Why did Harry Johnson cross the road?”
“To get more puppets?”
“To get a stack of dominoes?”
(I never did hear the answer to the joke….)

And a near daily bus favorite:
“Knock knock”
“Who’s there?”
“Banana peel”
“Banana peel who?”
Banana fart peel!”

How to tell you’re not getting enough sleep.

I am not sure how i feel about this.

So, Blind Melon is touring. Yah I know. Its like saying Nirvana is touring. How the hell can they tour with their singer, one of my favorite, is dead. I know ACDC replaced their lead singer with much success, but, I just don’t know how I feel about this.

They have some songs on their myspace page that I have not heard before. I can not tell if it’s Shannon (old stuff that was never released) or the new guy Travis, sounding much like Shannon. I know Shannon was not the only talent behind Blind Melon, the other guys did write the music and some of the lyrics. I believe the guitars wrote No Rain, lyrics and all. But, it just seems that it’s going to be impossible to replace him even with a guy who looks and sounds like him.

Our Living / Dining Room

Living Mike, Dining Mike, originally uploaded by 5.hectic.

I thought I’d stop being lazy and at least throw one picture up here. Here is Mike, sitting in the living room area. You can see the dining room area in the background, and the door way to the kitchen. If you click the picture you’ll travel to my flickr page, where the pictures of the kitchen are living. :)

Moving Sucks!

September 11th, 2007 at 11:10 pm by mike

Especially on one of the hottest days of the year. But fortunately, we had lots of help from some amazing people to whom we are especially grateful. I won’t say we couldn’t have done it without you, but it would have been really, really difficult. And instead it went rather quickly and painlessly, all things considered. So now we are about half settled, with stacks of boxes filling our offices. (So cool that we have offices!) But it is starting to feel like home, and we are making progress every day. So we are excited for people who haven’t been here yet to see it, and again extend the invitation to out of state friends to come for a visit.

Check out the pictures on Sarah’s flickr page. It’s just the first floor, because we are tired and the second floor is full o’boxes.
